Master Sergeant James Wood
Master Sergeant James Wood is a native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and East Lansing, Michigan. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas, a Master of Music degree from Northwestern university, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. His primary instructors include Armando Ghitalla, Charles Schlueter, Vincent Cichowicz, and Keith Johnson. MSG Wood has been Group Leader of the Federal Brass and Assistant Trumpet Section Leader for the Concert Band. He currently serves as the Auditions Coordinator and Support Group Leader. MSG Wood joined The U.S. Army Field Band in 2001. He and his wife, Holly, an alumnus of the Army Field Band, have three children.
