Sergeant First Class Randy Wight joined The U.S. Army Field Band in January 2005, already having more than 20 years of professional musical experience. During his tenure with the Army Field Band, he has given approximately 1,000 performances, including as anthem soloist for such high-profile events as Memorial Day at Camden Yards in Baltimore. In 2007, SFC Wight was commissioned to compose the theme song for the Army Birthday Ball in Washington, DC. Prior to joining the Army Field Band, he was a permanent fixture as a singing pianist at Bonnie Castle Resort and Turning Stone Casino in upstate New York, and also performed and recorded in Las Vegas, where he worked with the Temptations’ lead vocalist Barrington Henderson. SFC Wight holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Cayuga Community College and currently performs for VA and children’s hospitals in the Washington, DC, area with the volunteer organization Musicians on Call.
