Originally from Salem, Oregon, Staff Sergeant Nate Berry joined The U.S. Army Field Band in March 2025. SSG Berry holds a Professional Studies certificate from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. As an alumnus of Orchestra NEXT's Fellowship Program, SSG Berry has performed with the San Francisco Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Oakland Symphony, Stockton Symphony, Eugene Ballet Orchestra, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Mason Bates' "Mercury Soul", Evansville Ballet Orchestra, Vallejo Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Indiana. He can also be heard on Laura Downes' "Rhapsody in Blue: Reimagined", The Residents' 2025 album "Doctor Dark", and the soundtrack to Rod Laurie's "The Senior". In 2020, SSG Berry was a winner of the International Trombone Festival Gilberto Gagliardi Solo Competition. His instructors include Timothy Higgins, Paul Welcomer, Carson Keeble, Adam Luftman, Peter Ellefson, Jonathon Whitaker, and Denson Paul-Pollard.
