Biography

Staff Sergeant Devin Eddleman was born in Tampa, Florida, and raised in Southlake, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas, where he played lead alto saxophone with the renowned One O’Clock and Two O’Clock Lab Bands. Beginning in 2010, Staff Sgt. Eddleman led The Basically Basie Big Band, a Count Basie tribute ensemble that continues to perform in the North Texas area. In 2013, he was also a member of the Disneyland All-American College Band. After graduating, Staff Sgt. Eddleman toured nationally and internationally with Broadway musicals, including A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, An American in Paris, South Pacific, and A Christmas Story. Staff Sgt. Eddleman joined the US Army Jazz Ambassadors in March 2025 as second alto saxophonist and is thrilled to share his passion for jazz with audiences nationwide. In his spare time, Staff Sgt. Eddleman is an avid reader, particularly enjoying the fantasy novels of Brandon Sanderson.

The Jazz Ambassadors, the U.S. Army’s premier big band, was formed in 1969 and is celebrated both nationally and internationally for performing America’s original art form—jazz. Known as “America’s Big Band,” this 19-member ensemble showcases versatile programming, including classic big band standards, solos, patriotic tunes, contemporary jazz, and original compositions by its members. Many of these works are available through their jazz education initiative, Perspectives.

The Jazz Ambassadors have performed across all 50 states and in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan, and India, joining prestigious orchestras like the Boston Pops and National Symphony and appearing at major jazz festivals in Montreux, Newport, and Toronto. Their performances reflect a rich legacy, met with acclaim for celebrating jazz’s unique spirit worldwide.
