Master Sergeant Erika Grimm began playing the oboe at age nine and pursued music through high school and college at festivals such as the Interlochen Center for the Arts and Brevard Music Center. She received her Master of Music degree from Indiana University and Bachelor of Music degree from Florida State University, where she studied with Eric Ohlsson. MSG Grimm also pursued a Performer Diploma at Indiana University before joining The U.S. Army Field Band. Her primary teachers were Linda Strommen and Roger Roe. MSG Grimm teaches oboe privately and is active as a performer in Washington, DC and Baltimore. She is currently a member of the Army Field Band Woodwind Quintet and plays with the Baltimore Blasserquintet. MSG Grimm is the Oboe/English Horn section leader.
