Staff Sergeant Tyler Mire is a trumpeter and award-winning composer and arranger with nearly two decades of experience as a top-tier freelance musician. From 2013-2016, SSG Mire was an active touring and recording musician in Nashville, TN working with artists such as The Mavericks and Tim Rushlow, among others. From 2016 to 2021, he was the split-lead trumpeter for The United States Navy Band Commodores Jazz Ensemble in Washington D.C. As a composer and arranger, SSG Mire has worked in nearly all styles and formats, from jazz and pop to musical theatre, chamber, and classical. SSG Mire also has experience as a game music composer, including writing the extensive soundtrack to the independent role-playing-game “Quartet”. As an educator, SSG Mire has taught at Belmont University, George Mason University, and numerous clinics around the country. SSG Mire’s past teachers include Jay Saunders, Akira Sato, Rich DeRosa, Mark Camphouse and Robert Gillam. Outside of work, SSG Mire enjoys spending time with his two children and wife Kelsey, a freelance woodwind player in the DC area.
