Option A: Recorded Preliminary Round
Submission Deadline: 29 June 2026
- Provide UNEDITED digital audio recordings in MP3 format. Each recorded section must be a separate file and a single take.
Recordings MUST include the following:
• 2-3 minutes of a standard solo work or etude
Accompaniment optional

- Name each file as follows: ComposerLastName_TitleOfSelection.mp3 (i.e. “Mendelssohn_Scherzo.mp3”)
- Upload files to a single folder in a cloud provider of your choice (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.). along with a recent resumé in PDF format. Create a PUBLICLY VIEWABLE link to the folder and submit through the provided "Apply Now" link . Please do not include videos or identifying information in the recordings.
- If selected, travel/lodging/meals paid following enlistment qualification through a US Army recruiter.

Option B: Live Preliminary Round
Resumé Due: 24 August 2026
Preliminary Round: 14 September 2026 - Fort Meade MD
- Prepare the required preliminary and final round material. The audition panel will only hear the preliminary list on September 14.
- No later than 24 August 2026, submit your information through the "Apply Now" link and provide a link to a publicly shared folder that includes your recent PDF resumé.
- The live preliminary round will take place at Fort Meade, MD on 14 September 2026. All travel, lodging, and meals will be at applicant expense.
Select applicants will be invited to Fort Meade, MD, for an in-person audition and interview on 15 September 2026. Travel expenses will be paid upon meeting the U.S. Army’s aptitude, physical, and behavioral standards.
Military personnel must be eligible for a PCS, submit an Intent to Release memorandum from the unit Commander, and submit a Soldier Talent Profile (STP) or equivalent.

- Perform in the Concert Band of the United States Army Field Band
- Tour approximately 100 days per year in the U.S. and abroad
- Perform in various small chamber ensembles
- Contribute to innovative performances for broadcast audiences, live events, and educational outreach
- Learn and refine new skills as desired in multimedia production, marketing, music education, and more
- Professional performance level
- Proficiency in various musical styles
- Strong sight-reading skills
- Bachelor of Music degree or higher preferred
- Ability to meet Army height/weight standards
- Civilian applicants must be 17-34 years of age or up to 42 with a waiver
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
