How to Apply
  1. Create digital, UNEDITED recordings in high-quality MP3 format. Each excerpt should be a separate file. Please name the files as follows:

        § 1_Composer_Title.mp3 (for solo of choice)

        § 2_Beethoven.mp3

        § 3_Bizet.mp3

        § 4_Dvorak.mp3

        § 5_Mendelssohn.mp3

        § 6_Sousa.mp3
     
  2. Upload files to a single folder in a cloud provider of your choice (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) along with a recent resumé in PDF format. Create a PUBLICLY VIEWABLE link to the folder and submit through the provided “Apply Now” link on our website. Do not include videos or identifying information in the recordings.
     
  3. If selected, travel/lodging/meals paid following enlistment qualification through a US Army recruiter. Questions regarding the audition may be sent to the Auditions Team at usarmyfieldbandauditions@army.mil.

    Military personnel must be eligible for a PCS, submit an Intent to Release memorandum from the unit Commander, and submit a Soldier Talent Profile (STP) or equivalent.

Description
  • Perform Flute and Piccolo in the Concert Band of the United States Army Field Band
  • Tour approximately 100 days per year in the U.S. and abroad
  • Perform in various small chamber ensembles
  • Contribute to innovative performances for broadcast audiences, live events, and educational outreach
  • Learn and refine new skills as desired in multimedia production, marketing, music education, and more
Qualifications
  • Professional performance level on both flute and piccolo
  • Proficiency in various musical styles and sight-reading
  • Bachelor of Music degree or higher preferred
  • Ability to meet Army height/weight standards
  • Civilian applicants must be 17-42 years of age
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
