RECORDED PRELIMINARY ROUND

Submission Deadline: June 5, 2025
 

  1. Submit up to five video recordings that showcase the following:
     

• Performance ability on both upright and electric bass
• Proficiency in a variety of styles
• Candidate stage presence
• Ability to perform background vocals (optional)
• Proficiency on any additional instruments (optional)
 

        2. Upload videos to YouTube or a Google folder and include links to each video/folder in the body of an email. Please make sure the google folder is publicly viewable.

        3. Attach to the email a recent resumé in PDF format with current mailing address, phone and email address.

        4. Send the email with video links and resumé to: usarmyfieldbandauditions@army.mil.

Select applicants will be invited to Fort Meade, MD, for an in-person audition and interview on August 13-14, 2025. Travel expenses will be paid upon meeting the U.S. Army’s aptitude, physical, and behavioral standards. Military personnel must be eligible for a PCS, submit an Intent to Release memorandum from the unit Commander, and submit a Soldier Talent Profile (STP) or equivalent. Description
  • Perform as Electric and Upright Bassist for the Six-String Soldiers and Commercial Music Group of The U.S. Army Field Band
  • Tour approximately 100 days per year in the U.S. and abroad
  • Other duties as required in service to the organization
  • Position requires a minimum 4-year enlistment; the candidate will be informed of acceptance prior to enlistment
Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency on both upright and electric bass
  • Perform a variety of styles (Country/Bluegrass, Jazz/Western Swing, Pop/Rock, and Hip-Hop)
  • Write and read lead sheets
  • Ability to collaborate as an arranger and songwriter
  • Background vocal ability preferred but not required
  • Ability to perform on additional instruments preferred but not required
  • Ability to meet Army height/weight standards and maintain a physically fit appearance
  • Civilian applicants must be 17-34 years of age or up to 42 with a waiver
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
